Sandfire’s president is a master glassblower who had a classical training under the glassblower at the Inorganic Chemistry Lab, Oxford University, England. There, he was a part of such projects as the design and manufacture of the Haldane Gas Analysis apparatus, a portable unit for analyzing the gas content in blood that was used in one of the earlier climbs of Mount Everest.

He then gained experience with various other university and industry positions before starting Sandfire Scientific in 1975.
